QNAP T209 Pro With AD Intergation

This time I will share to you about how to integrated the NAS (Network Access Storage) machine on your Windows Server environment network. In this case I use the QNAP T209 Pro with linux OS for NAS, and the clue is the NAS Server it must can be access by the active directory user on our server Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition, lets check the following for installation :

- The first is setting the TCP/IP Configuration in your Network, the settings must be enter the IP address of Windows Active Directory server as the primary DNS Server IP.
- Then go to Microsoft Networking of Network Settings. Enable AD Domain Member, and enter the domain name and the user name with administrator access right to that domain.
- If your QNAP T 209 Pro failed when configure Microsoft Network and appear following message "Microsoft Networking configure failed" then let adjust your QNAP 209 Pro server time and synchronize to the Windows Server 2003. Make sure the difference of your time and that of AD server is less than 5 minutes. If the time difference is larger than 5 minutes, you will not be able to add the domain member.
- Upon successful adding of domain member, you can view the list for domain users and local users in User Management.
- Go to Access Control in Network Share Management to configure the access control right of AD users for all available network shares.
- To access services like FTP, Network Neighborhood, or Apple Talk with an AD user account, add DomainName\ before the user name when logging in.

There a many feature on the NAS QNAP 209 Pro but I don't want to explained all, if you need more information about it, you can visit here for more detail.
